WHNA members are asked to talk to their neighbors about becoming members for 2010. Seek an opportunity to tell them of the importance of helping maintain the vitality of WHNA.
We have an open access neighborhood with 30 plus year old residences. Our neighborhood is also right next to a major high crime rate area. And we have a constant influx of student age kids from low income apartments either attending school or otherwise.
Under these conditions, maintaining a plus living and reasonably safe environment is a challenge best facilitated by our organization of neighbors which we call WHNA.
In effect, paying the annual $50.00 dues for membership in WHNA is a form of investment in our property whether we own or rent our residence.
Among the several things our WHNA currently does to help maintain our neighborhood as a plus place to live;
1. Implements security measures such as security cameras, alley warning signs, and neighborhood crime watch programs
2. Monitors code compliance among our residences to draw attention to items that negatively impact the neighborhood
3. Monitors code compliance of outlying apartment complexes to insure they are being properly maintained and offer suitable housing for low income residents.
4. Organizes social meeting forums like dine outs and picnics to facilitate neighbors meeting neighbors.
5. Works on street and entrance appearance measures – Currently measures are being considered to remove the mold from our perimeter brick walls and to construct entrance signs.
6. Promotes front yard improvements through its Yard of the Month program
7. Maintains a web site with a variety of information useful to residents
8. Has a neighborhood important news alert email distribution system
9. Publishes a WHNA newsletter every two months with important neighborhood information
10. Publishes an annual WHNA membership directory
Help our WHNA remain vital and responsive by renewing your membership and talking to your neighbor about becoming a member for 2010.
